Located between the European and Russian markets, regulations in Moldova make it very difficult to export to either of these markets. For this reason very few companies are interested in investing in the region. Additionally, families are frequently split up as one or both parents move abroad to earn an income for the family. As a result of these challenges, the Moldovan economy is underdeveloped compared to its neighbors and there are little employment opportunities for young people.
Together with a local entrepreneur and a real estate developer, Worldpartners established a factory in Stefan Voda, South-East Moldova in 2016. The factory produces sandwich panels and prefabricated houses. There is a wood workshop, glueing tables, an office, a demonstration house, and sizable storage. From our factory we ship prefabricated houses to building projects in Moldova, the Netherlands, Germany and Switzerland. Since 2016, the company has expanded successfully to 35 full-time employees in 2022.
The factory creates employment opportunities and generates income in an economically struggling region. Additionally, we provide employees of the factory with spiritual training and personal support as we seek to understand the unique challenges of life in this region. As the company grows, we will be able to provide more jobs for those in the community and give financial and emotional stability to families.
