This project is located in the Kakethi region, the main wine-producing region of Georgia. The Baptist Church of Georgia represents many churches in this region. Besides missionary activities, these churches provide the most vulnerable people in Georgia with basic food, hygienic kits and medicine. Additionally, the church provides free tuition to local schoolchildren. In order to finance these social projects, the Baptist Church of Georgia operates several income generating activities.
This project was managed in cooperation with The Baptist Church of Georgia and Dutch foundation Kom Over en Help. Kom Over en Help and the Baptist Church have managed an existing vineyard of 5 ha since 2015. This vineyard financially supports a local church. With new machinery, bio-organic production and an increase in cultivated area Worldpartners aims to increase the efficiency and profitability of the vineyard in 2022.
The goal of this business is to have a lasting impact on the community through improving local entrepreneurship and work opportunities, while also strengthening the local church and its families with a sustainable income and opportunities to integrate their social projects into the business.
